Bridging the Gap between Health Care and Fitness

The definition of post rehab services is as follows: “the development and implementation of fitness and conditioning services for clients with special population and post rehab disorders”. Post rehab does not purport to provide any aspect of medical treatment for a client’s condition. The post rehab program may provide the following services:

Fitness Assessments
Strength Training
Flexibility Training
Cardiovascular Training
Functional Conditioning
Weight Reduction
Spinal Stabilization Training
Hypertension/Diabetes Training

These nine activities or services make up the post rehab “scope of practice”. Our goal is to take over where your doctor or therapists left your treatment. We will work closely with them establishing the appropriate protocol and keeping them well informed during your entire post rehab sessions. Some of the conditions we work with are:

- Total Knee Replacement
- Diabetes
- Lumbar Disc Herniation/Strain
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Total Hip Replacement
- Rheumatoid Arthritis
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Patello-Femoral Syndrome
- Osteoarthritis
- Knee Meniscus Tears
- ACL Rupture/Reconstruction
- Hypertension
- Shoulder Impingement
- Rotator Cuff Tears
- Fibromyalgia
- Achilles Tendon Rupture
- Cerebrovascular Accident
- Cervical Strain

Members of our staff are Medical Exercise Specialists (MES) and are certified through American Academy of Health, Fitness and Rehabilitation Professionals. The Academy was founded in 1992 by Michael K. Jones, PhD, RPT to “Bridge the Gap Between Health Care and Fitness”. Since its inception, AAHFRP has played an important role in preparing fitness professionals to provide post rehab and medical exercise to clients with a wide variety of medical conditions in the United States, Canada, Germany, England, Australia, Burma, Bermuda & Ireland. The Medical Exercise Specialist is internationally recognized by the medical and fitness communities as the standard certification for fitness professionals working with special population and post-rehab clients.
